Review of “Upgrade” (mild spoilers)

Upgrade is a fun science fiction action movie. The plot is fairly standard revenge material, reminiscent of Deathwish. The science fiction twist is that the hero, Grey Trace (

Logan Marshall-Green), is implanted with a chip that allows him to walk again. He discovers that it can do much more than that, and begins to track down the men that crippled him and killed his wife.

The acting is solid, but unspectacular. The action sequences are good. The science is questionable at best. I won’t spoil the major plot twist, but it was not believable. The ending is sound, but inconsistent with an earlier part of the film. This movie tries to be Total Recall, but fails to be more than a passing entertainment.
