* * * B

In the spy thriller “The Take”,  Briar (Idris Elba), a reckless CIA agent who becomes embroiled in a plot to trigger rioting in Paris when another American, Michael Mason (Richard Madden) is blamed for a bombing. Together, they track down the actual bomber, Zoe (Charlotte Le Bon) who was talked into planting the bomb by her lover, who winds up dead. Together, they have to figure out who is behind the plot and try to foil it.

As usual, Elba nails it, and is believably likeable as a ruthless bad ass. Madden and Le Bon play their parts well. Kelly Reilly and José Garcia round out the excellent cast. The story is well written, but fairly predictable, though there was one twist that I didn’t see coming. All in all, this is an enjoyable film, thought it is very poorly named. I won’t spoil the story any more than I already have. I recommend seeing it.
