Review of “The Hobbit – The Battle of Five Armies”

The latest chapter of Peter Jacksons adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” is good but not great. The film does well where it sticks to its source material. The additions to the story begun in the previous chapter (“The Desolation of Smaug”) are OK. There are many scenes that appear to be pure filler, including one fight scene that is completely ludicrous. There are also a few scenes that fall into laughable movie tropes.
