Stranger Things, the excellent NetFlix series, is back for another season. This time around, there are a few new cast members, including Paul Reiser and Sean “Samwise” Astin. All of the new actors and characters are great additions. I liked season 2 nearly as much as season 1. My sole criticism is that it was almost entirely more of the same, but since I really liked what I was getting more of, that worked pretty well.

The second season retains much of the structure of the first. There are three major plot lines: the young kids, the teens, and the adults. The budget for this season is much bigger, which is good because the low budget limited what the series could do in season one. Plenty of new exploration of Eleven’s back story is given, but very little else is explained.

Overall, this was a very satisfying extension of the story from the first season. I’m definitely looking forward to where they take the series next.
