Review of “Spinning Man”

Spinning Man was a two star thriller right up until the end. It built tension well. When a young woman disappears, suspicion falls on university professor Evan Birch (

Guy Pearce). At first his wife Ellen (Minnie Driver) stands by him, but as detective Malloy (Pierce “Bond” Brosnan) investigates, there are more and more clues that Birch is not as innocent as he proclaims himself to be.

The problem with this film is that after all the build up–did Birch do it? What did he do that led his family to move to their current home? What was/is his relationship with his overly friendly student Anna (Alexandra “Storm” Shipp)?–the ending is a complete let down. Presumably the director was trying to say something profound about the fallibility of human memory, but he failed miserably.
