Predestination is time travel story

revolving around a time agent (

Ethan Hawke) who, after a career hunting a dangerous criminal, the “Fizzle Bomber”, is badly burned in the past trying to stop him. Upon recovery, he is retired by the agency, but steals a time machine and escapes into the past to meet an enigmatic newspaper columnist (Sarah Snook).

I can’t say much about the plot without spoiling it, but it is convoluted, and takes advantage of the paradoxical nature of time travel. There is at least one gaping hole, and I found the ending a bit unsatisfactory. The first half of the film was a little slow paced, whereas the second act seemed rushed.

If you like science fiction, you may want to give this a watch, but don’t expect Gattica or Inception; it’s closer to Looper.
