Review of “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”

The fourth Mission Impossible film, though better that the second, fell flat after the superb third episode. In this film, the team is disavowed after the IMF (a dumb acronym, since I always think “International Monetary Fund” and form a ludicrous mental image) is framed for the bombing of the Kremlin. The bombing was used as a cover to steal the codes to a satellite that can control a Soviet nuclear warhead.

There are only two things that scare me. One of them is nuclear war, and the other is to sit through another tired iteration of the “stop the bad guy whose stolen a nuclear warhead from starting World War III” trope. I kept expecting Roger Moore to make an appearance as Ethan’s grandfather. Oh well, at least the fifth installment, “Rogue Nation“, is better.
